FEEDING DISORDERS HELP FOR BABIES

”Pediatric feeding therapists are specially trained to help assess your child’s chewing skills and if they are moving their tongue correctly, they can teach them to strengthen the muscles in their mouth and help them move their tongue effectively.”

Therapists can help babies improve their ability to suck from a bottle or drink from a cup and coordinate breathing while eating. They can help older babies learn to chew properly and feed themselves.

“Some babies may have an aversion to certain textures of food. Therapists can help to make feeding time more enjoyable by changing food textures, liquid thickness, feeding positions or methods and can also offer suggestions to improve behavior during eating”.

A speech or occupational therapist can evaluate your baby to find out what may be causing these issues and recommend treatment or therapy and help your baby enjoy meal time.

WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL!

Going back to school should not be the beginning of a war at home. Plan and get ready for what could be the best school year ever for your child, and you. Here you have some practical tips and basic information to use to make this yearly challenge a great success.

Have uniforms and school supplies ready. Make sure to complete this step ahead of time. Limited supplies or long waiting periods in line can increase frustration and anxiety, especially if you are shopping with your kids.

Initiate conversations with your kids and let them know that going back to school is approaching. They are going back to the school routine. A visual calendar will become helpful. Surprises are not acceptable.

Establish a sleep schedule, longer sleep duration, better sleep quality, and greater sleep consistency are associated with better academic performance.

Establish a wake up and get ready routine. Allow students to quickly accomplish day-to-day tasks that are required. Routines also helpful to create smoother transitions between activities and therefore allow fewer opportunities for disruptions to occur.

How do you get ready for a school routine?

Plan and streamline your school morning routine, and you will get everyone back to school with less stress.

           Have a Checklist!

            Brush hair and teeth.

            Get dressed.

            Eat breakfast.
